Global Gateway in Benin: Autonomous Port of Cotonou
The Autonomous Port of Cotonou (PAC) is the economic engine of Benin, generating 80-85% of customs revenue and nearly half of the country’s tax revenue. Strategically positioned at the crossroads of two major economic corridors prioritized by the EU—Abidjan-Lagos and Cotonou-Niamey—the port serves as a vital link for many value chains, primarily as an import and transit hub for Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Niger. This important Global Gateway and TEI (Team Europe Initiative) flagship is managed in partnership with Port of Antwerp Bruges International, bringing international expertise to the port’s ambitious modernization and expansion efforts.
