Global Gateway is Europe’s offer for connecting the world with investments and partnerships.
In Cameroon, the centrepiece of the Global Gateway flagships is the Logone Bridge Project in the Far North region of the country. A 1.5 hour flight away from the capital, Yaoundé, and a further four hour drive, this bridge is part of the Libreville – N’djamena Strategic corridor, crossing the Cameroon-Chad border. In the direct area of the bridge, there is a wide range of Global Gateway projects with a human centric focus, such as the city’s hospital, a neighbourhood health centre, primary schools, a reforestation site and an EU-supported training centre in Bongor, Chad. In Yaoundé, via Global Gateway, the European Union is financing the Nachtigal Hydroelectric Dam, one of the largest Team Europe led infrastructure projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. This will supply 30% of Cameroon’s total electricity needs once operational.
