Ecopoint containers are diverse containers (green, yellow and blue bin) for the selective collection of municipal solid waste (MSW) for recycling.Maiambiente is a local public company, dedicated to waste collection and street cleaning, serving the municipality of Maia and the inhabitants. The objective of the project supported by the EC through the Cohesion Fund, is to provide an innovative door-to-door waste collection service, based on an easy to use disposal system with dedicated wheeled bins for paper, packaging, glass and rest fractions, in each house, equipped with RFID technology for identification, communication, monitoring and reporting. The project contributes to reinforce the recycling industry, upgrade jobs qualifications, improve urban health and safety, reduce natural resources consumption as well as reduce pollutant emissions.
