The European Social Fund (ESF) is Europe's main instrument for supporting jobs, helping people get better jobs and ensuring fairer job opportunities for all EU citizens. The EU will contribute €12,9 billion to Spain's €16.2 billion ESF budget. The ESF is improving the training and vocational education system to boost the quality of the skills and qualifications they offer and their relevance to employers and businesses. Measures are underway to achieve a substantial reduction in the number of students leaving school early without qualifications and to give those who have a second chance.
