Signing the accession treaty of Portugal to the EC: arrivals and signature of the treaty
The signing the accession treaty of Portugal to the EC took place in Lisbon, in the Jeronimos Monastery. The signing marks the end of eight years of conciliations. On behalf of Portugal, those present were Mário Soares, Portuguese Prime Minister; Jaime Gama, Portuguese Minister for Foreign Affairs; and Ernâni Rodrigues Lopes, Portuguese Minister of Finance and Planning.
