Participation of Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the EC, in the EP plenary session
Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the EC, went to Strasbourg to sign with Martin Schulz, President of the EP, and Robert Fico, Slovak Prime Minister, the Joint Declaration on the EU's legislative priorities for 2017. Building on the European Council's Strategic Guidelines and the 10 priorities of the Juncker Commission the European Parliament gave the latter a mandate to deliver. The Presidents of the three European Institutions agreed on a number of proposals they would give priority treatment to in the legislative process. This would ensure that the EU delivered concrete results for its citizens and addressed the most urgent challenges Europe was facing. Jean-Claude Juncker then made a statement on the review of the Slovak Presidency of the Council, in the presence of Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Energy Union. The day after Jean-Claude Juncker participated in the plenary session of the EP which focused on the preparation of the European Council meeting of 15 December 2016.
