Marianne Thyssen, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, gave a press conference on the Labour Mobility package, at the European Parliament, in Strasbourg. Free movement of people would not be possible without EU rules on coordination of social security. The proposal updates the EU rules in the following four areas: unemployment benefits, long term care benefits, access of economically inactive citizens to social benefits, and cocial security coordination for posted workers.
