I just finished my meeting with the Prime Minister of Lebanon. It was an interesting meeting.

We'll have him during the Foreign Affairs Council later on.

For us, it is important that this ceasefire holds and very important.

Important to see that Israel and Lebanon sit at the same table,

and what we can do from the Commission side is to help them with cash flow.

You know that we have €1 billion which is earmarked and committed to Lebanon,

but the first tranche is 500 million, the next tranche is also 500 million.

We are trying to step up and to accelerate, our,

payments and disbursements in order to help Lebanon, not only humanitarian assistance but also for their reforms. So it was interesting.

Then of course Iran will be the topic of the ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

The most important issue is freedom of navigation, as you know, not only for Europe, for member states, but for the whole world globally,

and everybody is trying to help in order to reach the freedom,

of course, ceasefire and to have freedom of navigation through Hormuz Strait.

On Syria, this is also a topic as you know we will have in May,

we will have on the 12th of May there will be a high level dialogue on Syria in Brussels and also there will be a Syria donors forum where we will try to bring together all those who want to help Syria's reconstruction.

We hope that it should be Syrian led, of course, but we need donations and donors.

On Palestine, you know that yesterday it was a very busy day in Brussels on Palestine and Gaza, we are trying really To step up and to go from the first stage of the peace plan to the second stage,

it is not the case at the moment because preconditions for entering the second stage are not met,

which means disarmament of Hamas, and we are looking forward to it.

Let's see how the situation will develop, but from our side,

we don't want Palestinian Palestine and Gaza to be sidelined due to this conflict.

In Iran And of course the situation is very complex in the Middle East and we are trying to be active and to be engaged,

we as the European Union, we as the European Commission, and let's see how the atmosphere in the Foreign Affairs Council.

Will be and how the ministers will react.

Everything depends as you know, on ministers and on the 27 member states.

Only one word on pact for the Mediterranean, you know that last week on Friday,

We published our first action plan on the Mediterranean with 21 projects, very important projects. One of them is Mediterranean University.

We would like to connect all the shores of the Mediterranean and to connect young people through knowledge,

through education, through science, and I hope that we will manage to do it also. One of the flagship projects is TMed.

I'm speaking about production of energy from solar and wind and also hydrogen in order to get rid of fossil fuels from Russia and to produce renewable energy at a cheaper price and to import.

In Europe in order to be less dependent and in order to become an independent continent and this is one of the main goals,

but also to help developing countries in the Middle East and North Africa to develop their industry and their economy.

And there are many other projects, but at this moment maybe I don't go into length. Thank you so much.
