On 17 and 18 April 2024, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, participated in the special meeting of the European Council in Brussels, Belgium.
On this occasion, EU leaders adopted conclusions on Ukraine, Türkiye, the Middle East and a new European competitiveness deal. They discussed the EU's support for Ukraine, Iran’s attack on Israel, the crisis in Gaza, the situation in Lebanon, the upcoming 8th Brussels Conference on Syria, EU-Türkiye relations, the new European competitiveness deal, the deepening of the EU single market, the Capital Markets Union, the EU industrial policy, research and innovation, the Energy Union, circular economy, the digital transition, social policies, trade, the agricultural sector, and disinformation and foreign information manipulation.Following the the presentation of the high-level report entitled ‘Much more than a market’ by Enrico Letta, Rapporteur for the High Level Report on the Future of the Single Market, a press conference was held Enrico Letta, Alexander De Croo, Belgian Prime Minister, and Ursula von der Leyen.
