On 17 and 18 April 2024, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, participated in the special meeting of the European Council in Brussels, Belgium.
On this occasion, EU leaders adopted conclusions on Ukraine, Türkiye, the Middle East and a new European competitiveness deal. They discussed the EU's support for Ukraine, Iran’s attack on Israel, the crisis in Gaza, the situation in Lebanon, the upcoming 8th Brussels Conference on Syria, EU-Türkiye relations, the new European competitiveness deal, the deepening of the EU single market, the Capital Markets Union, the EU industrial policy, research and innovation, the Energy Union, circular economy, the digital transition, social policies, trade, the agricultural sector, and disinformation and foreign information manipulation.
Following the Council meeting, a press conference was held by Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen to convey the outcome.
