These illustration photos show two floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals in northern Germany, at Brunsbüttel and Wilhelmshaven.  The vessels that serve as floating terminals can receive highly compressed liquid gas from tankers and convert it into usable gas for distribution through the national gas network to consumers. Germany recently started deploying such floating terminals to import gas as an alternative to importing Russian gas through the Nord Stream pipelines in the Baltic Sea.
