With a length of about 6,000 km the Druzhba (friendship) pipeline system stands as the largest crude oil pipeline network in the world. Linking Russia to Germany the Druzhba line begins in South Eastern Russia, where it collects oil from Western Siberia, the Urals and, to a smaller extent, the Caspian Sea. The line run to Mozyr in Belarus where it splits into two branches, the Northern Druzhba line which runs through Poland, and the Southern branch which runs through Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia where it splits again into two branches at the station of Bucany, close to Bratislava, with one branch continuing to the refinery of Bratislava and the other running to the Czech Republic where it connects to the Czech refineries of Pardubice, Kralupy and Litvinov. The Druzhba pipeline system and all the facilities that are linked to it are among the priorities of the trans-European energy networks (TEN-E) policy.
